These rules are designed with three purposes in mind:
- Fairness to all players
- Efficiency in running a maximum number of games simultaneously
- Minimization of possible disputes between participants
Rules
- First toss will be determined by coin toss. Starting team shoots 2 balls (1 ball each player).
- Rollbacks: Each team member shoots one ball. Only 1 ball is returned when a team sinks both shots in one turn. Either player may take the rollback shot. Three ball shot maximum per team turn.
- Reformation (A.K.A Re-rack): Reform 3 times only. You choose formation from six through one cup.
- Distractions are allowed, however the players may not cross the plane of play with ANY part of their bodies. Penalty: 1 cup. No player may intentionally disturb the air surrounding the cups in play, such as by fanning with hands, hat, or any other objects. No visual blocking of the cups is allowed. Distractions should not violate any local, state, or federal laws. You MUST stay behind your end of the table!
- Leaning is allowed, however no foot may leave the ground (unless part of your natural shot) and the table, partner, or any other object may not be used to support a lean. A player may n ot place a hand/foot/leg/penis/whatever on the table in order to gain additional reach and/or leverage. Players may not edge themselves around the table when they throw.
- Grabbing: Ball may be grabbed ONLY after it has hit a cup. Premature Grabulation Penalty: 1 cup. Bounce shots are allowed but do not count for 2 cups.
- Cups knocked over by balls are counted as being sunk unless it is clear that the ball did not enter the cup. In the event that a player knocks over his or her own cups, those cups are to be counted as though sunk and removed from the table. Exception: cups knocked over during a re-rack or by any non-player.
End Game Rules
Shoot until you miss the number of balls shot at you to end regular game. If they made your last cup with one ball, one team member (your choice) shoots until they miss with that one ball. If your opponents had 2 chances to make your last cup, you shoot until you miss with one ball and then your partner does the same with the second ball. Overtime: 3-cup overtime is begun as though it is a new game with both balls going to the team who was first to hit the last cup.
- Being late or absent to a match will result in match forfeiture.
- Fights result in permanent USA Pub Pong blacklist.
- Games may be called or enter sudden death after 20 minutes play at the discretion of an official.
- All rules and penalties are to be enforced by officials. Disputes must be brought to officials. All calls made by officials are final.
